A lot of people hear "person-centered" and assume it just means being nice. It's more specific than that.

It means your experience stays at the center of the work. You have a real say in what we focus on, how deeply we go, and what feels most important to work on first. I'm not coming in with a preset idea of what your life should look like or what goals you ought to want.

This is also the foundation that Solution-Focused work rests on, rather than a separate approach competing with it. Solution-Focused therapy asks what you want, what is already helping, and what would tell you things are beginning to improve. But that only works if you're the one defining what "better" actually means.

Person-Centered therapy helps keep that true. I'm not deciding your goals for you and then using Solution-Focused tools to move you toward them. You're deciding what matters, and I'm helping you get clearer about it, notice what's already working, and take steps that fit you.

In practice, that might mean a session goes somewhere neither of us expected because something more important came up. It might also mean sitting with something difficult without rushing to fix it, reframe it, or find the silver lining before you're ready.

If that sounds like what you're looking for, call (682) 777-0823 to schedule a session, or ask about a free 15-minute consultation first if you'd like to talk it through before booking.
